Àjàrà Foods and Noisy Streetss are two dynamic, high-growth start-ups operating within the same creative and entrepreneurial space, both established less than a year ago and based in Lagos. We are searching for an exceptional finance professional to join our team.

• Àjàrà Foods: A food producer specialising in premium sauces and spice mixes.

The Opportunity: 

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Lagos State, with flexibility for remote work. You will be instrumental in establishing robust financial practices from the ground up. We are looking for a hardworking, intelligent Associate Accountant with 2+ years of experience to join our small team. The successful candidate will be working directly with the Head of Operations and the CEO.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Financial Accounting & Control: Managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining records for both companies, establishing and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, and managing the staff expense claim process.
• Daily Expenditure Management: Receiving, recording, and tracking all daily company expenses, ensuring proper classification and supporting documentation is obtained for every transaction.
• Financial Reporting: Preparing monthly financial statements, performing accurate account reconciliations, and delivering timely financial reports.
• Treasury & Banking: Performing weekly bank account reconciliation, preparing short-term cash flow forecasts, and serving as the primary liaison for bank administration.
• Operational Finance & Costing: Overseeing inventory management and conducting periodic stock counts, and accurately calculating the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for production.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Managing the end-to-end invoicing process (issuing sales invoices), handling all payments, including royalty disbursements to writers and vendors, and ensuring timely settlement of all payables.
• Budgeting & Analysis: Leading the budget creation process in collaboration with management, performing detailed expenditure tracking against the budget, and executing vital variance and profitability analysis.
• Compliance & Systems: Ensuring strict adherence to the Nigerian Tax Act and statutory compliance procedures; acting as the Zoho Books system administrator; and assisting with external financial filings and audit preparations.

What You’ll Need (Essential Requirements):

• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant accounting or financial experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Strong proficiency in financial reporting, account reconciliation, and a solid understanding of Nigerian tax law.
• Proven competence in accounting software (Zoho Books is essential) and advanced use of MS Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent organisational skills.
• Desirable: Professional certification or active progress towards one (e.g., ICAN, ACCA).

• Gross Annual Salary: ₦3,600,000
